Have your Geography students take of tour of Great Britain’s mountains, tributaries, roads, motorways, beaches, forests, plains, and cities in Minecraft.
The Minecraft map, which has been built from real world geographic mapping data collected by Ordnance Survey, features 220,000 square kilometres of mainland Great Britain and surrounding islands.
Your students can visit accurate in-game representations of famous British landmarks, such as Mount Snowdon, London, Lake Windermere, Shetland Islands, and even the Ordnance Survey offices — don’t hold back!
To use the map you just need to own a copy of the official Minecraft game — or presumably Minecraft EDU.
To find out more, and download the map for free, visit the Ordnance Survey website.
Wow! May have to re-install Minecraft just to fly around this!
It’s pretty cool!
great idea I will ask my Friday session to try
