Schools using SchoolPost, received the email below this week, outlining the company’s future plans and reassuring customers that the service’s partnerships will continue.
One of SchoolPosts strongest features is its integration with other educational platforms, which will hopefully continue, despite now being tied directly to the Firefly learning platform.
This is an interesting development, particularly in the current climate where communication with parents and school communities is so important. Firefly Learning, primarily used by independent schools, has found itself squeezed recently by behemoths like Google and Microsoft, which provide equivalent and more innovative learning platforms at a very low cost.
Does this represent a change in direction for Firefly?
From the email:
We hope you’re staying safe and managing to adapt to the ever-changing situation for schools. We’re glad to play our part in helping you keep in touch with your whole school community in such difficult circumstances.
We’re pleased to announce that SchoolPost is becoming part of Firefly Learning, a leading provider of software for learning continuity and parental engagement. It has been an amazing journey growing SchoolPost from our first few schools eleven years ago to over one hundred and fifty today, and we believe that combining forces with a larger organisation with a shared vision and values will help us to continue to build on this. Firefly is trusted by more than five hundred leading schools like yours, and we’re confident that it will be a great long-term home.
Day-to-day, it’s business as usual: we’ll continue to look after and develop SchoolPost as a standalone product just as we do today, but with the backing and resources of the wider Firefly team to help us accelerate our plans. Of course, we’ll continue to integrate and cooperate closely with all our other partners too.
One immediate benefit is that soon, we’ll extend our support hours from Firefly’s Sydney office, so you’ll be able to get help whenever you need it, day or night. (We’ll need to tweak our service and data processing agreements to make that possible – we’ll be in touch over the next couple of months to sort that out.)
If you have any questions, we’d love to hear from you. We really appreciate your trust in us, and look forward to serving you even better alongside the Firefly team.
