It seems so long ago now that displaying 9 students on screen in Microsoft Teams meetings at once was just a dream, but Microsoft has just announced that they will be releasing 7 x 7 meetings in preview by the end of June for a full release in the Autumn. That makes a total of 49 students and teachers on screen at once. Plenty to cover even the largest classes.
The new view combats one of the biggest advantages that Zoom has over Teams — showing an entire class of students on-screen at once. This latest update, scheduled to start rolling out this month, resolves one of the biggest reasons some schools have looked at alternative platforms for online classes.
I can’t wait to test this out and the plethora of additional updates coming to Teams over the summer.
