How to manage different apps, settings, and profiles, on separate groups of iPads using Apple Configurator.
This week two people have asked me how you install different apps and profiles to different sets of iPads through Apple Configurator. If you have two trolleys of iPads, for example, and want to assign an app to one trolley but not the other it can be difficult keep track of which iPad has which apps installed.
The best way to manage this is by grouping your supervised iPads. Here’s how:
- Open Apple Configurator and click on the Supervise tab.
- Click the + button at the bottom of the Supervised Devices pane.
- This will create a new group . Give it a name.
- You can now drag and drop the iPads you wish group together from the All Devices group to your new group.
Once you have your devices grouped you can use the All Devices group to apply settings, apps, and profiles to all of your devices, or the sub-groups to apply them to a specific set of devices.
