UPDATE OCTOBER 2020: You can now stop students unmuting themselves. Here are full instructions.
One of the most common questions I get is: “Can you disable unmute for students or prevent them from turning their microphones back on when they have been muted by the teacher.”
Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to prevent a student from unmuting themselves at the moment, however, there are several ways that you can manage student engagement in your Microsoft Teams class.
Some guides you may find useful are:
- How to mute students to prevent them from posting in your Microsoft Teams class
- How to stop students muting and kicking others in Microsoft Teams video meetings
- How to run a class video meeting in Microsoft Teams
You can also find hundreds of other Microsoft Teams guides for teachers on our Teams Hub page.
