Google launches Google Play for Education, offering bulk purchasing and easy distribution of educational apps for Android tablets.
Apple recently announced its mobile App Store’s 50 billionth download, but that number is set to be eclipsed by Google’s Play Store for Android which is set to bypass Apple’s numbers in October. While 2 million Apple Apps are downloaded each month, Google’s store is serving 2.5 billion.
Google today announced Google Play Store for Education. The service allows teachers to purchase Android apps, video, and books from a curated store and push them to specific Android devices. Payment is charged to a central account controlled by the school.
