UK supermarket retailer Tesco is reported to be preparing to launch a budget tablet to compete with the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire. But why does this affect schools?
For schools implementing a BYOD strategy, trends in the consumer mobile device market are hugely relevant. While iPad may be the choice of those making purchasing decisions for schools, the consumer market is far more price conscious.
The new tablet is likely to run some version of Google’s Android operating system.
As the consumer market changes so too does the type of devices students and teacher will bring into your school. Tesco clearly wants a bite of the digital retail market and is following Amazon’s example with the Kindle Fire.
